Frequently Asked Questions -

  • Do you guarantee success at research competitions?

No. Science Research Academy does not guarantee success at competitions. While our staff members have an outstanding track record of projects that have found great success at local, regional, national, and International competition, it is impossible for us to guarantee that same success for all our clients. Competitions are subjective in nature. What we can guarantee is that we will provide students with the tools and skills necessary to capitalize on every opportunity to find success at these events, should all other uncontrollable variables be in their favor.

  • How do you match students with appropriate scientist mentors for their research projects?

Students have the opportunity to work with SRA staff to find a scientist to serve as their mentor. If an appropriate mentor is not immediately available from our database, Science Research Academy staff will work alongside students to help in successfully matching them with a scientist to serve as their mentor. If a successful mentor match cannot be made within 30 days, a full refund will be issued (minus a $250 service fee).

  • Can you provide examples of successful projects your company has assisted with in the past?

You can read about previous students’ experiences with science research in the testimonial section of the website. Specific examples of student work are also located in the Resource Library once you have become a member of Science Research Academy.

  • How do you help students navigate the complexities of scientific research methodologies and experimentation?

This is where the guidance from a professional scientist in the field comes into play. Our experienced research teachers will be able to assist students with the basics of research methodology, but the specifics that are unique to each individual field of science will be best known by a professional scientist currently working in that field.

  • How do you assist students in effectively communicating their research findings and conclusions?

Our science research teachers have years of experience working with students preparing their research findings for dissemination. Whether this be creating an effective PowerPoint and Poster or crafting a well versed script, our staff members have the tools necessary to help students present their work in a way that is understandable by the general public, and members of a particular scientific community.

  • Can you outline the typical timeline or process for students working with your company on a research project?

The research process at Science Research Academy will typically take anywhere from 3 to 12 months to complete. However, this can vary greatly depending on the nature of the research, the availability of the student and their scientific mentor, and numerous other variables. No two research endeavors look the same, therefore they will not take the same amount of time to complete either.

  • What are the qualifications and expertise of the mentors you work with?

All the mentors that are utilized by Science Research Academy have been vetted by a member of the SRA staff to ensure that their qualifications meet our standards. All mentors that are matched with students are guaranteed to have advanced knowledge and understanding of the topic of study that the student has identified. Our mentors come from many different areas, including industry and academia.

  • How do you ensure that students are receiving personalized guidance and support tailored to their individual research interests and goals?

If a student is paired with a research teacher or a mentor from Science Research Academy, their number one goal is to provide an individualized experience that will meet the needs of the student. Students will also be able to interact directly with SRA staff if they are not satisfied with the guidance that they are receiving or have any questions/concerns regarding their experience.

  • Can you assist with finding opportunities for students to present their research at competitions or conferences?

Science Research Academy staff can assist with finding and attempting to participate in research competitions and conferences. Most research competitions are organized and run at the local level, so entry requirements can differ greatly. Here at SRA, we will do our best to get you the most current and up-to-date information so that you can attempt to enter your local competitions.

  • Do you offer any guidance or support for students interested in publishing their research findings?

Science Research Academy staff can assist with identifying the steps necessary to submit a paper for publication. Publication requirements can vary greatly depending on the field of science and the journal requirements. SRA staff and your scientific mentor will work to gather these requirements for you to submit your paper for publication. Science Research Academy does not submit papers for publication on your behalf.

  • How do you stay updated on current trends and advancements in various scientific fields to provide relevant guidance to students?

This is one of many advantages that having a scientific mentor can provide when conducting your research. Professional scientists who are currently working in their field of study will have the most up-to-date information and knowledge regarding current trends and advancements in their particular field.
